Martin Aeschbacher, Ph.D., Director M&S Biological Division
Holds a Ph.D. in natural sciences from the University of Bern.
He started his academic career at the Swiss Tropical Institute in Basel where he graduated in 1976 as Engineer in Tropical Agronomy. He continued his studies in the field of medical microbiology at the University of Bern, where he graduated as lic.phil.nat. He then worked as scientific collaborator at the Institute of Toxicology of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ) and University of Zürich and later at the Institute of Bacteriology of the Canton Tessin and the University of Bern, where he attained his Ph. D. He started his career in the private industry in 1989 as a Product Manager of Bioferment SA.
In 1994 he became Marketing Director of the Biological Division of Cerbios-Pharma SA. Under his direction the probiotic product line of the company has significantly gained in importance and long term contracts with multinational companies have been signed raising Cerbios top ranking among producers of probiotic active ingredients of pharmaceutical quality.
